Laura Dillon, a Planning & Zoning commissioner, filed Wednesday to run for Place 3 on Flower Mound Town Council.
Dillon, a Flower Mound resident of 20 years, has been involved in community service for many years, such as serving as vice president of the Stone Hill Farms HOA, leader of a Girl Scout troop and several roles with the Marcus High School Band and Fellowship Church, according to a news release. She started attending Town Council, board and commission meetings in 2015 to learn more about the town’s government, and participated in the first Citizens Academy in 2016.
Dillon was appointed by Town Council to serve on the Planning & Zoning Commission in September 2016, and was re-appointed two years later.
Dillon’s daughter, who is currently in graduate school, attended Prairie Trail Elementary, Lamar Middle and Marcus High School growing up. Dillon has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington, and she has more than 25 years of experience in the group health insurance benefits industry. She’s currently a senior consultant at one of the country’s largest employee-owned insurance brokers.
Dillon is seeking to succeed Councilman Kevin Bryant, who is term-limited in his Place 3 seat. Mike Wallace, a former Town Council member, has also filed to run for Place 3.
Filing for all local elections began Wednesday, and the deadline to file is Feb. 15. Election Day is May 4.
