Flower Mound High School and Marcus High School will face off Wednesday in a friendly wheelchair basketball game to raise money for their Circle of Friends programs and RISE Adaptive Sports, a nonprofit that helps people who are physically challenged to play sports.
The Battle of the Mound wheelchair basketball game will start at 7 p.m. at the FMHS basketball arena. The first half will be played by students from both schools, and the second half will be played by coaches and teachers from both schools. Halftime will feature wheelchair races.
Concessions will be open, and there will be a prize drawing, according to Lewisville ISD. For admission, the district is asking for donations, which will be split between RISE Adaptive Sports and the FMHS and Marcus chapters of the Circle of Friends program, which establishes friendships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers through inclusive activities.
