Argyle 45, Stephenville 35
The Eagles won their season opener in a back and forth affair on Friday night that featured more than 850 yards of total offense and 11 touchdowns.
Bo Hogeboom connected with Adam Schleder on an 80-yard touchdown pass to get things started for the Eagles, and then a 51-yard pass to Dillon Carter to take a 14-0 lead.
The Yellow Jackets came right back with two touchdowns of their own to tie the game up at the half.
Tito Bryce scored on a 4-yard run to start the third quarter and regain the lead, and Argyle extended the lead on a 40-yard pass to Alex Gonzalez from Hogeboom.
Bryce and Noah Lang would both score on short runs in the fourth and Grant Shaw kicked a 27-yard field goal to seal the victory late.
Argyle will host Waco La Vega at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7.
Keller Fossil Ridge 14, Flower Mound 10
Flower Mound lost a tough one in it’s season opener on Friday night, coming up just short against Keller Fossil Ridge.
The game was tied 7-7 at halftime after Jake Welch caught a 20-yard pass from Blake Short to even the game up for the Jaguars.
Ridge took a 14-7 lead in the third quarter, before Josh Plaster kicked a field goal with 11:04 remaining in the fourth to make it 14-10 in favor of the Panthers.
Flower Mound could not complete the comeback and ended up 0-1 heading into its second game of the season at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7 at home against Plano West.
Arlington Bowie 25, Marcus 7
The Volunteers clearly had a game plan on Friday night, which was to stop Justin Dinka from running wild and it apparently worked.
Bowie defeated Marcus in a game where the Marauders running back only rushed for 17 yards in the game.
The Volunteers led the game 25-0 until under two minutes in the fourth quarter when Gus Sralla caught a 4-yard pass from Garrett Nussmeier to get Marcus on the board.
The Marauders will host McKinney Boyd at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7.
Melissa 42, Liberty Christian 30
Andre Washington combined for 214 all purpose yards and four touchdowns, but Liberty Christian still came up a bit short against Melissa on Friday night in its season opener.
Cameron Baller kicked a 43-yard field goal in the game for the Warriors.
Liberty Christian will host Celina at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7.
Aledo 40, Guyer 0
The Wildcats were overwhelmed in their season opener on Friday night against Aledo, losing 40-0 to the Bearcats.
Harrison Bohannon rushed 18 times for 92 yards in the game, but the Guyer offense struggled to get anything else going.
Guyer will next play Cedar Hill at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the Cotton Bowl.
Coram Deo 42, Lake Country Christian 15
Max McCalley scored on a 10-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter and Coram Deo never looked back, as the Lions defeated Lake Country Christian 42-15 to move to 1-0 on the season.
McCalley added two touchdown passes and Cooper Walthall scored on two short runs as well in the game.
Coram Deo will host Legacy Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 7.
