Local scouts team up to fight hunger in Argyle

Boy Scouts of Troop 192 and Cub Scouts of Pack 192 will be delivering flyers to Argyle homes in an effort to collect donations to feed the hungry in the Argyle area as part of the Boy Scouts of America nationwide food drive, Scouting for Food.

On Feb. 9, local scouts will deliver the flyers seeking nonperishable food items to be put at mailboxes for pick up. On Feb. 12, the scouts will return to collect donations and take them to the Argyle Food Bank.

Neighborhoods included on the scouts’ route include Settlers Point, Argyle Town Village, The Oaks, Meadows at Hickory Creek, Hickory Hill and Steeplechase.

For those who wish to contribute, but are located in areas not included in the scout routes,just drop off donations on or before Feb. 12 at the Scouting for Food box at First Baptist Church of Argyle or Northstar Bank’s Argyle branch, both located on Hwy 377.

Items being sought for the food bank include canned food, boxed food such as macaroni and cheese, condiments and basic ingredients like sugar and flour.
