Liberty Christian drum line wins second place at TAPPS

Liberty Christian’s Drum Line recently won second place overall at the first Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ Drum Line Competition at Waco ISD.

Liberty Christian Director of Bands Scott Himel said, “On top of an already busy marching band season, Assistant Director and Percussion Instructor Jason Umbach created an entirely new show specifically for drum line students!”

Each section of the drum line individually received points, and the entire drum line ensemble was then ranked as a whole in head-to-head competition with other TAPPS 5A schools.

“On top of the overall second place finish, our bass drum line was awarded the Best Bass Drum Line of the entire event,” Himel said. “This is huge for our drummers.”

Congratulations to the following students:  Natalie Belokin, Joonyeong Choi, Matthew Honeycutt, Kelsey Hovanetz, Dillon Lewis, Rachel Lorentz, Tiffany Lu, Cameron Meath, Zhendong (David) Qian, Elijah Parr, Cheryl Shaffer, Kevin Wissink, Mack Wright and Mary Wright.
