Burglars target Asian community

The Flower Mound Police Department is asking for the public’s help with solving a rash of burglaries targeting the homes of Asian residents.

There have been eight residential burglaries since January where the victims were of Asian or Indian decent, according to police. This crime pattern is not unique to Flower Mound, as similar incidents have occurred in other North Texas communities.

Police said that in many instances, the victims possessed gold jewelry of high quality with religious and cultural importance.

In response, police have held two community meetings with residents to help them better protect their homes and property and provide for timely exchange of information to assist in identification and prosecution of the offenders.

Flower Mound is working closely with other Dallas-Fort Worth police agencies and federal law enforcement in an effort to identify trends, patterns, and potential suspects.

Residents are asked to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately by dialing 911. Citizens are asked to pay particular attention to residential neighborhoods during daytime hours.

Flower Mound’s Anonymous Crime Tip Line is 972-874-3307.
