Lady Wildcats open playoffs with shutout

The Guyer girls soccer team cruised by Azle earlier this evening, defeating the Lady Hornets 4-0 at Brewer High School.

The Lady Wildcats will take on Wichita Falls Hirschi at 4 p.m. on Friday at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls in the area round.

Brittany Crabtree scored first in the game less than two minutes in on an assist from Hannah Alspach, and Alspach added a second goal in the 14th minute on an assist from Gairy Natividad to make it 2-0.

Jasmine Heffley made it 3-0 in the 25th minute on an assist from Peyton Buckley, and the Lady Wildcats led 3-0 going into the break.

Crabtree added a second goal 10 minutes into the second half of the game.

Coach Kenny Blevins said he was extremely pleased with his team’s effort.

“This is the best we’ve played all season,” Blevins said. “I think that this may be exactly the girls needed to get the juices flowing was that playoff atmosphere.”
