Letter: Smith dedicated to serving

I would like to recommend Scott Smith for Justice of the Peace – Precinct 4. I have known Scott for twenty years, and he has been dedicated to public service the entire time I have known him. He has demonstrated his willingness to serve the residents of Denton County through thirty years of public service.

Some of the services he has provided since we met are: Served on the Municipal Utilities District Board director and vice president, served on the Trophy Club City Council, and then as the Trophy Club Mayor. He raised three children who are all graduates of Northwest High School and the University of North Texas. He also helped raise my three children who are all graduates of Southlake Carroll. Being single parents presented challenges that required organization, flexibility, and never ending dedication. Scott is now a proud granddad of two beautiful young girls.

Scott is a man that will listen to concerns and possibilities. He demonstrates a great deal of thought behind his actions. However, the main reason you should vote for him is his dedication to serving the people of this precinct with respect and fairness.

I have been an educator in Northwest ISD for fourteen years. Scott knows how hard I work to educate these students and how much I care. I know that Scott is willing to work with all the students in this precinct to cut back on the truancies and discipline problems. He is the type of person who does not just make speeches about what can be done, but will come up with a plan to do something about these problems. He is more than willing to meet with students, parents, and educators to propose and discuss plans. Our children are our biggest assets in this society for our future.

Scott’s commitment to service, his concern for the citizens of Denton County, and his dedication to working with our youth are worthy characteristics for Justice of the Peace. This office does not require a law degree, and in my opinion, this actually helps this office to be what we would prefer, a “People’s Court.” His level headed decision making and dedication to serving you as a proactive citizen is someone we need in this position. Please join me in voting for Scott Smith on March 4th.
