Groundbreaking held for Lantana Kroger

Lantana, Bartonville, and Denton County officials joined executives from Kroger and NewQuest Properties at a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for a Kroger grocery store on FM 407.

The 124,000 square-foot Kroger Marketplace, to be built on the south side of FM 407 between Jeter Road and McMakin Road, will offer shoppers just about everything under the sun.

Customers will find a variety of chef-prepared items and pastries, Texas-grown fruits and vegetables, a large selection of beer and wine, premium-cut meats, fresh seafood, organic products, toys, florist, pharmacy, home furnishings and décor, apparel for men, women and children, bed and bath items, pet supplies, a large baby section, kitchen and small appliances, home office supplies, and a Starbucks.

A Kroger fuel center in front of the store will have nine gas pumps to serve up to 18 vehicles at a time.

Kroger Marketplace will anchor the 42-acre Lantana Town Center retail development that will eventually be home to numerous retailers, restaurants, and banks. The first tenant announced to join Kroger is a 2,450 square-foot Legacy Nail Spa.

“We are just about a month away from completing 407 and when we built the Lantana Curve a few years ago, we knew if we built it, they would come, as evidenced today,” said Denton County Precinct #4 Commissioner Andy Eads.

The new Kroger will create 300 new jobs and is expected to open in late spring of 2015.
