Kroger cuts ribbon on expansion

Kroger and Flower Mound officials cut the ribbon Wednesday on the grocer’s remodeled and expanded store at 2709 Cross Timbers Road.

The $15 million, 30,000-square feet expansion project created 50 new jobs, according to Kroger spokesperson, Gary Huddleston.

“If it wasn’t for these folks on council and what they did, this never would have happened,” said Flower Mound Mayor Tom Hayden, referring to the 2011 controversy over the store’s proposal to add gas pumps that ended up being a major issue in the May 2012 election.

Kroger officials presented a check for $1,000 to the Christian Community Action Food Pantry at the ceremony.
