Entrepreneurs Cary and Jackie Albert of Double Oak have made the commitment to invest in the local North Texas area—and the future customers they plan to serve—literally.
The Alberts purchased territorial rights and have an agreement with Dairy Queen to open 10 franchises across Denton and Tarrant counties by 2016 and soon-to-be 11 Schlotzky’s franchises across the Metroplex.
The Dairy Queen franchise they opened in Lewisville this summer broke three Dairy Queen records: highest sales on opening day; highest volume hour on opening day; and, the highest sales in the first seven days of operation.
“That [opening] day, we had pride for our staff members and pride for the community,” Cary said. “The patience of the guests who sat in the drive-thru lane for over an hour, you could tell people were excited.”
The Alberts opened their third Dairy Queen franchise, a beloved Texas icon, in Flower Mound in late October.
“The customer service aspect is what we push and promote,” Cary said. “We try to make the customer feel like we’re family—that’s our profile.”
Attention to the inside of the restaurant is critical. The Alberts deliver a relaxed environment with amenities such as couches, fireplaces and free Wi-Fi service. Their Schlotzky’s location in Flower Mound also provides three computers for patrons to use as they dine.
“We take personal pride in presenting the customer with a family-friendly place they are going to enjoy,” Jackie said.
“We’re combining value meals with a quality facility,” Cary added. “We try to mold each one of restaurants to reflect the type of area in which it’s located.”
It is fulfilling for the Alberts to focus on both their customers and employees.
“I love employing people and contributing to their families,” Cary said. “There’s a drive in all of us to help our fellow man and we’ve changed people’s lives which is very important to us.”
The business also brings the Albert family together as all three of Cary and Jackie’s children have worked in their restaurants.
“This business has allowed me to spend more time with my family,” Jackie said.
As a former open-heart surgery nurse, juggling long shifts with raising three kids was difficult. Now, she can spend more time with them.
“We hope the community enjoys this brand,” Cary said. “Nobody walks out of Dairy Queen without a smile on their face.”
The Flower Mound Dairy Queen location is at 1909 Justin Road (FM 407).
