Lakeside DFW zoning case goes before P&Z tonight

Members of the Flower Mound Planning & Zoning Commission will consider and vote tonight on a rezoning proposal for Lakeside DFW, a $1 billion proposed mixed-use development that will include homes, apartments, retail and office space, and a hotel in south Flower Mound overlooking Lake Grapevine.

The Lakeside DFW rezoning proposal seeks to transform the 150-acre site from the office park envisioned in 1999 and 2000 into a mix of uses that will include commercial and residential components.

“For decades we have been trying to recruit a major corporate campus to that area, with limited success,” said Flower Mound Mayor Tom Hayden.  “We have to be open minded as to what is viable and what would allow our residents as well as visitors from outside of Flower Mound to enjoy Lake Grapevine.”

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Flower Mound Town Hall.  It will also be broadcast live on FMTV.

If approved by Planning & Zoning, the rezoning plan will go to a Town Council vote on Nov. 19.
