The Lewisville Independent School District announced this week the appointment of Tim Greenwell as the new principal of Liberty Elementary in Flower Mound’s Wellington community.
“Tim has a strong work ethic and a passion for education and he will continue to focus on student learning and fostering a 21st Century learning environment,” said LISD Superintendent Dr. Stephen Waddell.
Greenwell currently serves an assistant principal at Degan Elementary where was a district finalist for Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year in 2011. Additionally, he is a member of the LISD Facilities Assessment Committee to help improve the facilities within the district. Before Degan, he was a LEAP world geography teacher at Flower Mound High School from June 2008 to June 2010.
Prior to joining the district, Greenwell served as a teacher at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas for the 2007-2008 school year. After college, he worked for Center School District in Kansas City, Mo. from 1993-2007.
A graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Social Work, he then received a Master of Arts in Education from Avila University in Kansas City, Mo.
Greenwell said he is doing what he loves and what he was born to do.
“Ever since asking for and receiving a portable chalkboard for my eighth birthday, which served as the centerpiece of my garage-based classroom for neighborhood kids, I have been an advocate for lifelong learning,” Greenwell said. “I feel extremely honored to be a part of the Liberty community and am excited to begin the next school year.”
Greenwell will begin his full-time duties at Liberty in July.
