Mother’s Day Tea to support local students

Heritage Health Solutions Academic Excellence Foundation in Flower Mound will host Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday, May 12 at 10 a.m. to raise money for a student-awarded scholarship.

Proceeds from the day’s activities and ticket sales will go toward a college scholarship for a 7th to 11th grade student in the Lewisville Independent School District.  The winner of this year’s annual academic scholarship will be in attendance and recognized at the Mother’s Day Tea.

The event will take place at Celebrations Event Center in Highland Village. Additional activities during the Mother’s Day Tea include a silent auction, style show, hat contest and brunch, as well as a guest speaker. Attendees can also submit a photo of their mother to recognize her in the event slideshow.

Established in 2010, Heritage Health Solutions Academic Excellence Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation that recognizes seventh to eleventh graders who excel in academics and participate in community, humanitarian, and religious activities.

Last year, the foundation awarded a $2,000 academic scholarship to Julie Baton, an 8th grader at Shadow Ridge Middle School in Flower Mound. The funds are currently in an escrow account and will be transferred directly to the university or vocational school of Julie’s choice when she graduates from high school.

“The students we consider for this scholarship maintain a 3.75 or above grade point average in combined academic subjects, and participate in community, faith and humanitarian activities,” said Karla Hook, executive director of Heritage Health Solutions Academic Excellence Foundation.

For individuals and businesses interested in attending the event, a variety of sponsorships are available for purchase. Donations to the Heritage Health Solutions Academic Excellence Foundation can be made through purchase of sponsorship packages, ticket sales and silent auction items.

To become a sponsor of Mother’s Day Tea, donate an item to the silent auction, or for more information, contact Karla Hook at [email protected].
