Candidates of choice share voter's concerns

I was going to early voting Monday and thinking about my 22 years here in Flower Mound and how much I love this Town. I was also thinking about the concerns I hear most from you (as well as my wife):

1) We do not want Flower Mound to be just another Plano or Frisco.
2) We want to keep the rural flavor we moved here for.
3) We want more options for dining and shopping.
4) We want more options for housing.
5) We want to keep or Oil and Gas ordinances strong to protect the environment.
6) We want to eventually have lower taxes.

Having served our Town as Chair of the Environmental Conservation Commission and on the Citizen Budget Partners, Master Plan Update Steering Committee, and the Mixed Use Committee, as well as the Denton County Transportation Committee, I feel I have a good grasp of what must happen to address these concerns.

I walked up to the polls thinking this election should not be about personalities or politics. This election should be about which candidate best offers Leadership, Vision, Knowledge, Communication, Civility and Respect.

I know and like all six serious candidates, however I MUST vote for the candidates who share the same concerns my friends, neighbors, and I do. We want people on Council who will protect our environment and the Cross Timbers Conservation District. We want people on Council who are independent thinkers, not a ticket of candidates that follow the leader. We want people on Council who will work with our Chamber and developers to convey an “Open For Business” attitude, while allowing our strong ordinances to insure all development is very high quality. We want people on Council who will support upscale Mixed-Use development in a limited number of confined areas. We want people on Council who will diversify our tax base. We want people on Council who have a positive “Can Do” attitude and not a negative “My Way or the Highway” attitude. That is how Flower Mound can attract the best projects!!

For these reasons I voted for Tom Hayden, Bryan Webb, and Steve Dixon. I also voted Yes on all 12 Charter Amendments.

I urge you to vote by May 12, 2012 to impact the future of Flower Mound!!!
