Likes Burns for Denton School Board

We are fortunate to have an experienced person running for Place 1 of the Denton School Board: Barbara Burns.  Barbara’s three children graduated from Denton schools and she taught for 28 years – the last 20 in Denton.

After she retired, she continued to be active in our district and served on the bond committees for E.P. Rayzor, Blanton Elementary and Harpool Middle School.  Because of her continued volunteer work with the district, she attends school board meetings and has only missed three over the last seven years.  She is actively committed to our schools.  She is ready to step onto the board and immediately be an effective board member.

While teaching, she was Ryan High School’s Teacher of the Year, helped to evaluate and accredit other school districts through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and worked with the US State Department to mentor teachers in the Ukraine.

In her classroom, she kept her students actively involved.  She was the teacher we all want our children to have.  Outside of the classroom, she worked with PTA, chaired Renaissance and Grad Night, and over the years sponsored Honor Society, Student Council, and Whiz Quiz.  She is a person who always goes the extra mile.

Barbara Burns has a history of public service. She brings many perspectives and areas of expertise to the table.  She knows our district as a parent, educator, and volunteer.  Check out her website at www.barbarakburns.com.  Look at her qualifications.  Then, you’ll be ready to vote for Barbara Burns for Denton School Board.
