Denton County residents who want to lend a hand but aren’t sure where or who to help now have a website for one-stop volunteer shopping. Greater Lewisville Cares (GLC) announced that it has re-designed its website to make volunteering easier.
The website enhancements include a comprehensive list of area non-profit agencies with contact information and a description of needed services including which opportunities are child-friendly.
In the past, only volunteers who signed up through GLC, a 501(c)3 organization, received an e-mailed monthly calendar of county-wide volunteer opportunities. Now, anyone who goes to GLC’s website, www.greaterlewisvillecares.org, can find a descriptive list of local agencies and the types of volunteers they need.
“These changes are part of GLC’s continued commitment to provide current information that makes volunteering convenient for you and your families,” GLC Interim Board President Dan Nelson told volunteers in an e-mail. “With this commitment in mind, GLC’s new service and format will continue to engage our partner agencies and provide the most current volunteer opportunities available.”
Among the dozens of agencies GLC supports are those that care for the hungry, the elderly, the abused, neglected animals, the environment and armed forces overseas.
“Our hope is that GLC’s new format will streamline the volunteering process, make it easier for more people to volunteer, and add further value and utility for all of our area agencies,” Nelson said.
Nelson said that with the launch of the website re-design, GLC provides a central location for the listing of local non-profit agencies and associated volunteer opportunities; continues supporting youth community involvement through the annual GLC Youth Volunteer Scholarship Program; and annually identifies and facilitates fund-raising projects.
Founded in 2004, Greater Lewisville Cares (GLC) is Denton County’s premier 501(c)3 volunteer service “linking” organization, providing listings of volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups and corporations to improve the Denton County community through volunteer participation at agencies that address Denton County’s most pressing needs. GLC gives people the opportunity to quickly find information about many different agencies, and their current volunteer opportunities, attracting hundreds of volunteers since 2004.
