Sheri Marshall, a music teacher at McAuliffe Elementary in Highland Village, is hitting all the right notes after a recent trip to New York City.
While outside in the plaza for a taping of NBC’s “TODAY” show, Marshall was picked out of the crowd to receive an ambush makeover by stylist to the stars Louis Licari and TODAY fashion contributor Jill Martin.
When asked why Marshall deserved the makeover, her friend Liz Campbell was quick to chime in.
“Sheri is an elementary school teacher and she gives and gives to those kids tirelessly, without second thought,” Campbell said on the broadcast.
Marshall was then whisked away to spend a few hours trying on clothes and having her hair and make-up done in the “Saturday Night Live” make-up room. Then it was time for the live reveal on the “TODAY” show and she was greeted by a chorus of gasps from her friends.
“You are beautiful inside and out,” Campbell said. “You just glow.”
Campbell continued to toot Marshall’s horn after the makeover.
“She gets to school early to work the drop off circle,” Campbell said. “Then she stays late to work on lesson plans, decorate her room, or put together a rehearsal for performances. She is a vital part of the heart and soul of McAuliffe Elementary”
While the make-up will wash off and Marshall will have to get ready each morning without a team of experts, the life lesson she learned is something she hopes to pass on to her students.
“You have to be open minded and ready for anything,” Marshall said. “You never know when the opportunity of a lifetime is going to jump up and grab you!”
