Chowing down for children

Nine celebrity “eaters”, including Marcus High School football coach Bryan Erwin, chowed down on 8 pound burgers at the Champions for Children Chow Down on January 19th at Johnny G’s American Grill in Lewisville.

The event, a fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County, served as a kick off to their 3rd Annual Champions for Children Gala this February.

Jody Moore, a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, was the winner of the eating competition by downing 4.9 pounds of beef.

The CACDC presented the inaugural 2012 Champions for Children award to the Krum High School Student Council in appreciation for their outstanding community service. Members of the Krum HS Student Council, as well as their principal Mike Pierson, were in attendance to receive their award.

At the end of the night, the winners of the 2012 CACDC Dream Raffle were drawn and Matt and Renee McCann of Flower Mound won a trip to Pebble Beach with Golfing for Two.

The next event for the CACDC is the 3rd Champions for Children Gala on February 18th at Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound and features autographs from sports celebrities such as Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett , Chad Hennings and Jose Guzman, chef tasting tables, wine tastings, an auction, and a live band.
