Flower Mound and Lewisville police departments nabbed two robbery suspects Saturday night after a mini-crime spree.
The excitement started when a black male with a gun, described as an AK-47 assault rifle, held up a convenience store at Old Orchard Road and Corporate Drive in Lewisville.
Around 8:00 p.m., a Flower Mound police officer spotted a vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle parked behind the S & S Convenience Store on FM 3040 at Garden Ridge, according to FMPD Capt. Kurt Labhart.
The officer observed a man inside the store with what appeared to be a rifle who was ordering the clerk to place money in a bag. The officer waited for the suspect to exit the store and then ordered him to stop. The suspect dropped the rifle and fled on foot toward the Teal Wood Oaks neighborhood.
The getaway driver, a 16-year-old male from Lewisville, was apprehended at the scene.
Police called in a K-9 unit from Carrollton and a DPS Helicopter to assist them in their search, which lasted about an hour and a half.
Using an infrared camera, the helicopter located the suspect hiding in a back yard on Mallard Dr. Police took Jaquan White, 19, of Lewisville, into custody.
Labhart said that White was carrying an Air Soft gun made to look like an AK-47.
A total of $1,000 in cash was recovered from the suspects at the scene. Both men were charged with Aggravated Robbery.
Lewisville police said Sunday morning that they suspect the men are connected to two other recent robberies in their city.
