Denton ISD officials are proposing to rezone elementary students in the Country Lakes community in Argyle from E.P. Rayzor Elementary in Lantana to W.S. Ryan Elementary in south Denton.
The rezoning is necessary for the 2012-13 school year to accommodate the growth in the southernmost area of the district, school officials said.
The district has scheduled two public hearings this week for 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday night at W.S. Ryan Elementary School, 201 W. Ryan Road in Denton.
“The meetings provide families the opportunity to plan ahead and have choices for the coming school year. It also is necessary for the school administrators to plan for staffing at these schools,” said Deputy Superintendent Jamie Wilson.
School officials said fourth-grade students who want to remain at E.P. Rayzor for fifth-grade during the 2012-13 school year may do so. However, they must provide their own transportation.
The rezoning will only affect residents of Country Lakes who reside in the Denton ISD area of the community.
