Parents of children who live outside the Argyle Independent School District’s boundaries will have the opportunity to enroll their kids in the AISD for the 2011-2012 school year at no charge for tuition.
Argyle ISD is implementing a Limited Open Enrollment program in order to increase student enrollment, which in turn will increase the district’s funding it receives from the state, according to school officials.
The district will accept applications from non-resident students from now until May 27.
Applications will be considered on a first-come, first served basis to fill a limited number of available spaces. Space is more limited in some grades than others, school officials said.
The district is limiting the total number of transfers accepted district-wide to 50 students with no more than 10 in any one grade.
Potential students must have a good attendance record and no major discipline issues at their previous school.
The school district does not provide bus transportation to non-resident children in the open enrollment program.
Applications are available at the Argyle ISD Administration Building and on the district’s website and must be returned in person by the parent or guardian named on the application form to the administration building at 800 Eagle Drive in Argyle.
All students that are accepted must reapply each successive year and will be approved as long as they still continue to meet the requirements. However, all transfer students are expected to strictly abide by the district’s policies and rules, and any violation could result in the revocation of the student’s enrollment, school officials said.
Parents will receive notification of whether or not their child’s application has been accepted by June 10.
The Argyle ISD operates an elementary school, intermediate school, middle school and a high school and is rated Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency
