I am an Army Reserve Colonel who recently returned from a year-long deployment to Iraq. While deployed, I continued to follow the growth, development and political climate back home in Flower Mound. As a citizen soldier, I was very encouraged by resident participation in the petition drive last year and the high voter turnout during last May’s election. However, I have been discouraged by the lack of open discussion and willingness to fully develop public participation in many key decisions that affect our wonderful town. I would like to see the Town Council incorporate more open forums and public debates on issues that affect the long term growth of Flower Mound.
That is why I support Kendra Stephenson for Place 1 on the Town Council. She has served on the Oil and Gas Board of Appeals and is very familiar with the concerns of all residents and the positions of the gas drillers. She brings experience and a balanced approach to this highly visible issue. Furthermore, she brings 12 years experience with Fortune 500 Companies, five years with Ernst and Young, and several years as an independent contractor developing business strategy for multinational companies. This experience is a valuable asset for the Town Council to use to ensure that the development of new gas wells, pipelines, or compression stations does not interfere with Flower Mound’s SmartGrowth under its long term master plan.
I encourage you to vote for Kendra Stephenson for Place 1 on the Flower Mound Town Council. She is an independent voice that will listen to all the residents of Flower Mound. Kendra will encourage open debate and seek the opinions of our many professional experts that reside in Flower Mound. If elected, Kendra’s votes will be based on a sound analysis of the facts and what best represents the long term interests of our Town.
