Flower Mound-based Heritage Health Solutions, Inc. recently announced the establishment of its non-profit Academic Excellence Foundation that will offer a student scholarship program to public, private, and faith-based school students living in the Lewisville Independent School District boundaries.
“Heritage recognizes the need to groom today’s students to be tomorrow’s civic and academic leaders,” said Lisa Rosengren, President of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, “and is hoping to assist the community in this effort by establishing the Foundation.”
“What’s different about this foundation is that it focuses on academics, community service and religious participation rather than just academics or athletics,” said Karla Hook, the Foundation’s Executive Director.
Scholarships of $2,000 will be available to students in grades 7 to 11 who maintain a grade point average of 3.75 or higher and who exhibit strong community, faith, and humanitarian qualities.
The scholarships will be awarded based on merit and without regard to financial need, religion, race or creed.
Awarded scholarships will be placed in an escrow account for the student until graduation, at which time the funds will be transferred directly to the University or vocational school of the student’s choice.
The first Foundation scholarships will be awarded for the 2010-2011 school year.
