Members of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAVA) of Denton County shared last Thursday morning with the military veterans at the Cross Timbers Rehab Center in Flower Mound to celebrate Veterans Day.

DAV Chapter 106 Commander, John Whitley, opened the Veterans’ Day Ceremony by leading the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance and thanking the military veterans for their service.

Denise Brown, DAVA Unit 106 Commander, presented the resident veterans with military fleece hoodies emblazoned with the veteran’s branch of service.

Cross Timbers staff members who are veterans were presented with cards thanking them for their military service.  All military veterans in attendance were recognized and honored.

Members of the DAV attending the Veterans Day ceremony included Whitley, Joe Wiess, Jay Martin and Charles McHenry.

DAVA members in attendance were Brown, Shirley Cork, Gloria Whitley, Rachel Martin, Joan Lundholm and junior member, Sharlot Martin.

Members of the Denton County DAV and the DAVA will be serving veterans and collecting donations at the 10th Annual Golden Corral Military Appreciation Monday Dinner on Nov. 15 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Lewisville and Denton.
