A 44-year-old Argyle woman was killed Tuesday night when her car was struck by a train at the railroad crossing on Stonecrest Road and Hwy 377 in far western Flower Mound.
Flower Mound Police said that just after 8:00 p.m., a 2010 Silver Mercedes driven by Deanna Murphy was traveling eastbound on Stonecrest Road and came to a stop on the tracks. The car was struck by a Union Pacific freight train travelling southbound.
Police said that the train came to a stop about a half mile south of the crash scene. It was not carrying hazardous materials and there was no derailment.
The accident scene was cleared and the crossing was reopened at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled the death a suicide. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
