State to fund stalled interchange project

Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, today announced the approval of funding to construct an interchange at Interstate 35E at FM 407.

The $30 million project was among several approved by the Texas Transportation Commission using money from previous road projects that were completed below expected costs.

Work had started on the interchange a few years ago but was delayed by changes in the proposed I-35E widening plans.

“Denton County residents have been anxiously awaiting this decision on funding for the FM 407 interchange with Interstate 35E, a critically important connection,” said Senator Nelson.

“Mobility affects our economic development, our ability to respond to emergencies and our air quality,” said Senator Nelson. “I look forward to the completion of this long-needed project.”
