Charity golf tournament for heart defects

At just two days old, Jake Price of Flower Mound was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that obstructed blood flow to and from his heart.

The tiny baby boy underwent a four hour surgery to repair the condition. Jake underwent another successful heart surgery in early 2010 at Medical City Children’s Hospital.

Jake is now 11 years-old and is doing fine today, but he may eventually need to have another heart surgery in the future to repair or replace the two narrowed heart valves.

To honor Jake and his courage, the non-profit organization “Friends 4 Heart” was formed with the mission to raise funds to benefit the research, treatment and support of children with congenital heart defects, with the hope to help change children’s lives.

Friends 4 Heart will hold its third annual Charity Golf Tournament & Dinner/Auction on Friday, Nov. 5, at the Bridlewood Golf Course in Flower Mound.

This event is presented by Medical City Children’s Hospital with proceeds benefiting their Congenital Heart Program.

The Friends 4 Heart golf scramble is open to singles and four person teams, and includes golf with cart, lunch, awards dinner and access to auction items.

In addition to mingling with a variety of sports celebrities, participants also have a chance to win prizes – best team scores, “Beat the Pro” with PGA Tour Professional Paul Stankowski and “Hole in One Contest” for a chance to win a car sponsored by Allen Samuels Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Hyundai, to just name a few.
