Flower Mound Fire Department wins Battle of the Badge

The Flower Mound Fire Department braved the 100 degree heat and fought its way to the 2010 Battle of the Badge Softball Tournament championship on Saturday at Lake Park in Lewisville.   The Flower Mound Fire Department outlasted the Lewisville Fire Department by the score of 13-4 in the championship game of the double elimination tournament. 

The 2010 Battle of the Badge Tournament Championship was the third title for the Flower Mound Fire Department in the eight years of the event.  Jesse Wenger of the Flower Mound Fire Department was named the tournament’s most valuable player. 

Over $7,000 was raised by the tournament to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County and Lewisville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.  
 
The Battle of the Badge featured the following area police and fire departments:  Lewisville Fire Department, Lewisville Police Department, Flower Mound Fire Department, Flower Mound Police Department, Denton Police Department, Denton Fire Department, Carrollton Police Department, Little Elm Fire Department, and Irving Fire Department.
 
The much anticipated battle between Lewisville FD vs. Lewisville PD started the tournament at 9:00 a.m.    The Lewisville Fire Department avenged last year’s loss to the Police Department with a 16-5 victory in the eighth annual game between the two teams.   Brian Freed was named the most valuable player for the Lewisville Fire Department, and Jay Alexander was the most valuable player for the Lewisville Police Department.
