Pedestrian hit, killed on FM 156

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man along a section of FM 156 near the Denton County town of DISH.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night, dispatchers received a 911 call from a motorist reporting a mentally distressed man of Asian descent walking up and down FM 156 for several hours, according to Tom Reedy, Public Information Officer with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office.

About 30 minutes later, another motorist reported seeing a body lying on the east side of FM 156 near Eakin Cemetery Road. The motorist stopped and checked the body and said that the person appeared to be dead.

Denton County Sheriff’s Deputies, DPS troopers and EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene and discovered the body of an Asian male between 30 to 40 years old.

Shortly after the second call came in, police took a call from a woman who lives near the area of the incident who said she had hit what she thought was a large animal with her vehicle while she was driving home. She reported that she had stopped and got out of her car to look around, but she could find nothing, as the section of the road is in a rural area of the county that does not have streetlights.

The investigation is ongoing.
