Marcus grad is diving champion

Mark Murdock of Flower Mound, a University of Wyoming junior and graduate of Marcus High School, won the gold in platform diving at the Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in Oklahoma City.

Not only did Murdock win, but he also broke the records, setting a new all-time Wyoming and Mountain West Conference record at the preliminaries in the morning, coming in first with a 381.30.

He went on to totally smash his new record in the evening finals, eclipsing the competition with a 427.90 for six dives, once again setting a new all-time record for both the University of Wyoming and the Mountain West Conference.

Murdock’s accomplishments are accentuated by the fact the University of Wyoming does not have a platform tower on which to practice.

Following the meet, Murdock was named to All-Conference on all three boards, including one-meter where he placed third, and three-meter where he came in fourth.

Mark is the son of Rob and Julie Murdock of Flower Mound.
