Several southern Denton County towns and cities are offing free Christmas tree recycling to area residents.
The Flower Mound Parks Department is offering free Christmas tree and turkey oil recycling to county residents between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily through Jan. 10 at Gerault Park, 1200 Gerault Rd. Trees can also be dropped off after hours at the same location.
In Highland Village, residents can recycle their live Christmas trees at Copperas Branch Park, 100 Copperas Branch Park Dr., from now until Jan. 2.
Keep Lewisville Beautiful is sponsoring a Christmas tree drop-off spot near the soccer field parking lot at Lake Park Dr. and Mill St. through Jan. 14.
Trees cannot be flocked and all decorations and nails must be removed. The trees will be chipped up to be used as mulch. Residents who would like free mulch should bring their own containers.
In addition, Christmas trees can be placed curbside for pick up in Flower Mound during regular bulk trash pick up days between Dec. 28 and Jan. 2.
