Three arrests made after break-in

Police said three Lewisville residents were arrested a day after burglarizing a Double Oak home, and the trio may be responsible for several other break-ins.

Audrey Smith, 19, Robert Hurst, 21, and Jeremy Francis, 20, were arrested on Oct. 24 and charged with burglary of a habitation after Double Oak police received a tip from the Highland Village Police Department.

Francis had a previous criminal record in Denton County, including theft of a firearm and criminal trespass charges.

On Oct. 23, crooks ransacked a home in the 800 block of Cross Timbers Dr. in Double Oak, making off with jewelry, clothing, computer hard drives, an iPod, a camera and checks. Stolen items from the burglary were recovered during the arrests, police said.

Double Oak police are investigating other recent daytime residential burglaries to see if the suspects are connected to the crimes.

Since Sept. 17, there have been five home break-ins in Double Oak, according to Police Chief Derrick Watson. All of the incidents occurred between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays.

Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to contact the Double Oak Police Department at 972-355-5995 or Denton County Crime Stoppers at 800-388-TIPS (8477). Information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the burglaries may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
