Petter has hometown pride

Chase Petter

Chase Petter has a deep and abiding affection for his hometown of Argyle.

A first-team All-State defensive lineman for the Eagles football team in 2017, Petter is also a member of the National Honor Society, Young Men’s Service League and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

But, for the Argyle senior, just being a student at Argyle High School is something very special for him.

“It has meant the world to me,” Petter said. “I can’t even imagine myself going to school anywhere else but Argyle. My life has been affected tremendously by not just the high school, but the whole town of Argyle. Everyone is always so supportive and kind here. I love this place.”

Petter, who also runs track at Argyle High School, is a devout Christian and credits his faith for giving him the positive outlook in life and desire to give back to the Argyle community.

“The most interesting thing I’ve ever done was getting baptized the summer going into my freshman year,” Petter said. “This completely changed my life for the better and it is an experience I will never forget.”

Petter, 17, said it troubles him to see all the problems in the world today and said if there was one bit of advice he could give to people it would be something related to his faith.

“The one thing I wish was different about our world today is that I wish we could all just get along and stop fighting each other,” Petter said. “I wish that everyone could realize that, no matter our beliefs, we are all human beings and that God created all of us in his image to serve him.”

The Argyle teen said he would like to work for his father’s business or become a football coach when he grows up and said that during his time at AHS, he has tried to be someone who demonstrates integrity.

“I would like to be remembered at Argyle High School as someone who always worked hard and honored God, no matter the task,” Petter said. “Whether it would be sports or academics, I want to be known as that person who gave 110 percent effort in everything I did. I also want to be known as a person who always gave glory to God.”

Petter carries a 4.0 grade point average at Argyle High School and plans to attend Texas A&M University following his senior year.
