The Christmas season is just about to start in Highland Village.

Our Village Glows, a festive community event that draws thousands of spectators each year, will light up The Shops at Highland Village with a 60-foot-tall Christmas tree and more than 245,000 LED tree lights synchronized to holiday music, according to the city.

The event, which starts at 5 p.m. Saturday, will include the arrival of Santa Claus by firetruck, strolling performers, complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides and an interactive bow wall display. The Christmas tree will be lit up at 6:30 p.m.

The Highland Village Women’s Club, which organized the event with the city and The Shops, will provide face painting, holiday ornament and cookie decorating activities, and a hot cocoa stand. A jazz ensemble and local community and school groups will also perform music of the season.
