More than 120 students from the Guyer High School Student Council and other Denton ISD school organizations will go door to door collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28.
The Guyer Student Council’s Community Service Committee will kick off the annual “Cans Not Candy” event at the Guyer campus courtyard at 5:30 p.m. Students will also be on site to receive canned goods from anyone wishing to donate.
Donations will be picked up at the courtyard at 8 p.m. by the local Salvation Army and will be distributed to families in need during the holiday season.
Students from Harpool Middle School’s Student Council will return this year to help with collections. Participating students will be treated to a social mixer with food, music and entertainment.
