LISD Destination ImagiNation teams find success at competition

The Bridlewood Elementary Destination ImagiNation team, “Dig-It,” (pictured) won second place out of more than 60 teams at the DI Global Finals tournament in Knoxville, Tenn.

The team, comprised of students Katie Kelton, Erin Zilka, Emily Guthrie, Grace Cabuena, Tiffany Jones and Maggie McGee, competed in the “Do or DI” division. The team is managed by Teri Guthrie.

The Marcus High School DI team also competed at Globals. The team is led by Ross Blair and comprised of students Ian Blair, Andrea Torres, Sebastian Crump, Kaitlyn Harry and Rachel Walsh.

Flower Mound High School students Jason Suess and Merissa Avilla along with Forestwood Middle School student Spencer Dertinder competed on a multi-district team at DI Globals and won first place in the Structure category. The team performed a skit, built props, created costumes and built a structure out of newspaper weighing 37 grams which held 1,020 pounds at the competition.
