Permanent Denton County Boys & Girls Club facility now open in Lewisville

Denton County is ready for its very own Boys & Girls Club facility, and the club opened in grand fashion.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County celebrated the grand opening of its new Denton County facility in Lewisville with an open house Friday morning.

It is the first brick-and-mortar club in Denton County and is located in a converted Lewisville Fire Station.

“Opening the doors to our Boys & Girls Club in Lewisville marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the children, families, and community,” said Daphne Barlow, CEO and president of BGCGTC. “Every young person who walks through these doors will have the opportunity to discover their full potential, build meaningful relationships, and envision a brighter future. We believe the impact of this Club will extend far beyond its walls, helping shape a generation of young people who will grow to lead, serve, and strengthen this community for decades to come.”

The newly remodeled 10,000-square-foot facility was gifted to the organization by the City of Lewisville and renovated with a $1 million donation from the RAO Foundation.

Denton County also helped to bring the plans to fruition with a $3 million contribution from Judge Andy Eads and the commissioners, as well as $1.3 million from anonymous donors.

It’s a special moment for Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell, who has been working hard since 2022 to bring a Boys & Girls Club location back to Denton County.

“It is exciting news that our new Boys & Girls Club in Lewisville will open soon, where the sounds of laughter and play combine with learning to create an environment that enriches the lives of our children,” said Mitchell. “With enough secure space for a playground, building expansion, a 25-foot ceiling for gymnasium use, the facility has the perfect combination for a Boys & Girls Club – Denton County’s first permanent location and, I hope, the first of more to come.”

The Lewisville Branch is near Lewisville High School and some of its feeder schools, which Lewisville ISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp said was a benefit for the district’s community.

“This is a wonderful example of what can happen when schools, families, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and community leaders work together,” said Rapp. “Having a Boys & Girls Club in Lewisville will be a transformative addition to our community.”
