The newest fire station for Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 and 2 is officially in operation.
Fire Station 512 started operations in early July, giving crews with Denton County ESD No. 1 and 2 a new place to work at the corner of I-35W and Dale Earnhardt Way in Northlake.
When the new station broke ground in February 2025, officials expected it to be completed by summer 2025.
After some construction delays with the Canada-based building manufacturer, work on the station continued in late 2025.
Denton County ESD Chief Ricky Vaughan said the building the new station is an innovative “modular design” as a permanent structure with a lifespan of 40-50 years.
The innovative design is expected to help the long-term cost of the building.
It’s the fourth fire station operated by Denton County ESD, which protects more than 45,000 citizens across 65 square miles, including Argyle, Bartonville, Copper Canyon, Corral City, Lantana, Northlake and surrounding extraterritorial jurisdictions in Denton County.
The public is welcomed to join in celebrating the new station at a grand opening event on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m.
“This new station represents an important investment in the continued growth, safety and emergency response capabilities of our community,” said the department in a statement. “We are excited to celebrate this milestone with the residents, community leaders, elected officials, partners and stakeholders who have helped make this project possible.”
