A Flower Mound family lost their home Sunday evening after a destructive fire started in the attic.

The Flower Mound Fire Department responded at 5:19 p.m. to a reported attic fire in the 4400 block of Auburn Drive to find heavy fire showing from the roof, according to FMFD spokesman Brandon Barth. The occupants of the house safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the house for about 15 minutes before withdrawing into a defensive attack, according to FMFD.
“Due to the amount of fire, there is nothing left to investigate, so the official cause is undetermined,” Barth said. “Circumstantially, the owner did state they had been using their fireplace and discovered the fire in the attic.”
