Winter weather advisory canceled for Denton County

The National Weather Service has canceled its winter weather advisory for Denton County as the chance for sleet/freezing rain later Thursday is moving northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The weather service had issued the advisory early Wednesday morning through Friday morning for Denton County because of cold and freezing rain and, during the afternoon on Thursday, an expected transition to sleet/wintry mix. But Thursday morning, the weather service has canceled the advisory as the winter weather is expected to stay out of Denton County.

The forecast, as of late Thursday morning, calls for a small chance of rain throughout the day, with temperatures in the mid-30s.

The weekend forecast looks much more pleasant, with sunny skies and high temperatures in the 50s and 60s from Friday through Sunday.
