McAuliffe Elementary safely evacuated Tuesday for smoke

McAuliffe Elementary School was evacuated safely Tuesday afternoon because of smoke, according to the city of Highland Village.

The school resource officer was notified at 3:43 p.m. of smoke in a room, according to the city. The Highland Village Fire Department responded and all students were safely evacuated. Firefighters determined the smoke came from construction workers on the roof.

Students were staged at the Kid’s Kastle parking lot for afternoon pickup.
