Toxicology report is in for Flower Mound man found dead in home

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has ruled the cause of death of a 60-year-old Flower Mound man.

Dane Kaeppel, 26, and Steven Kaeppel, 60, were found dead in their home in the 2300 block of Warrington Avenue on Aug. 18, according to the medical examiner.

Dane’s death was ruled a suicide from a gunshot to the head, but Steven’s cause of death was pending a toxicology report, which could take six to eight weeks.

The medical examiner has ruled this week that Steven’s death was natural, from heart disease and diabetes.

In August, a Flower Mound police spokesman said that many people may have jumped to the conclusion that their deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, but police had ruled that out.
