A large storm system is expected to bring heavy rainfall and possible flooding across Denton County this weekend.
Heavy rain is most likely from Saturday through Monday and a Flash Flood Watch will be in effect from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.
On Saturday morning, showers and a few storms will occur, but severe weather is not expected during this time. As the day wears on, however, the risk for severe weather and flooding will increase, especially in the afternoon. Damaging winds will the be primary threat but large hail and a few tornadoes will also be possible.
Heavy rain will continue on Sunday. Thereafter, colder air will filter southward that should result in a transition from rain to wintry precipitation. Snowfall should be light primarily affecting bridges and overpasses.
By the time it is all said and done, we may see between 3 to 4 inches of rain.
