Highland Village cancels events due to flooding

The evening events at Celebrate Highland Village planned for June 6 have been cancelled due to high water at Pilot Knoll Park.

Much of the area used for the event is currently underwater, city official said on Tuesday.

The morning 5K/1K Run, Family Fish Out and Arbor Day Proclamation will take place as scheduled at Unity Park.

“Celebrate Highland Village is an event put on entirely by city staff for our community in celebration of the beginning of summer,” said Parks and Recreation director Linda Cornelius. “We are disappointed to cancel the evening portion of this event. “
