Foodie Friday: Celebrating my wife at Bistecca

table setting

How many of you have felt like in order to go someplace “fancy” enough to celebrate a special occasion, you have to leave our local Flower Mound – Highland Village – Lewisville area to find a suitable place?

Wouldn’t you love if I told you there was a place right in our backyard run by a critically-acclaimed chef who’s part of a family that’s been an institution in the area for over 20 years!

Well, that’s exactly what Bistecca in Highland Villageis! Run by Chef Morris Salerno, who has won awards from the Texas Chef Association and is known throughout the community for giving back to local residents.

A year or so ago, Chef Salerno created Bistecca from his former restaurant The Grotto in order to create a fine-dining atmosphere for his customers where they could come to enjoy a special evening out or a formal business lunch.

When you walk into Bistecca, you’re instantly greeted by a beautiful and luxurious atmosphere and the smells of incredible food!

Since we were celebrating my wife’s birthday last week, I (scoring major Husband Points) took her to Bistecca for some incredible food.

And we went all out with a full four-course meal!

So, we started out with some Foie Gras which they serve pan seared with an apple chutney and the Shrimp Grotto which are four large shrimp marinated in Mogia, seared and served with gorgonzola butter and herbed bread crumbs.

For our salad round, my wife ordered the Tuscan Salad topped with an apple ring, toasted walnuts and a Sundried Tomato Vinaigrette. And I ordered the Caprese made with vintage heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and topped with extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil.

Up next we ordered the Beef and Crab (medallions topped with Alaskan crab) and a New York Strip served with a potato wedge and baby vegetables. And yes, by this point we were definitely getting full and had already boxed up lots of food as leftovers… but don’t think that stopped us from ordering dessert! It was my wife’s birthday after all!

They brought her out a very festive homemade cheesecake make with white chocolate and I ordered their classic Chocolate Souffle drizzled with a chocolate sauce.

Sorry, my mouth is watering again just writing about it. Next time you have something special to celebrate or want to win someone over, I highly recommend you head out to Bistecca and dine with Chef Morris and his staff.

He’s always walking around the restaurant greeting people and he even gifted my wife with a copy of his cookbook which she was very excited about!

There’s a reason this restaurant has been an institution in the community for over 20 years and it’s because of their great customer service, their incredible food and Chef Morris’s ambition and passion for cooking.

Go enjoy the beautiful sunshine tomorrow, Foodies! And have a great weekend!
