Rain and snow in the forecast

snow forecastWidespread showers continue this morning with an estimated 1.2 inches of rain as of 2:30 p.m. For southern Denton County, National Weather Service forecasters are predicting a 60 percent chance of a mix of rain and snow this evening through Friday morning.

Overnight Thursday, temperatures will dip into the low-30s as a 60 percent chance of rain lingers, adding the possibility of snow through noon on Friday, though little accumulation is expected.  Southern Denton County could see some snow on grassy or elevated areas, forecasters say.

The high Friday will be in the upper 40s to low 50s.

On Friday night, temperatures fall to freezing under mostly clear skies with temperatures gradually warming over the weekend from the mid-50s to the low 60s early next week.

So far this year, the area has received about 2.52 inches of rain, according to the Double Oak Fire Station rain gauge.
