Unstoppable Eagles advance

The Argyle football team defeated Gladewater 42-8 on Monday evening at Waco Midway’s Panther Stadium to advance to the state semifinal round of the playoffs.

The Eagles won their Class 3A Division II Region II championship game against Gladewater (7-7) following a two day postponement due to inclement weather.

Argyle jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead and played solid defense to finish it out, improving to 14-0 on the season.

Nick Ralston ran wild in the first quarter, scoring two rushing touchdowns and ending the game with 130 yards on 14 carries.

Connor Wilson and Hunter Treadwell also had touchdown runs in the game.

Ian Sadler led receivers with 5 catches for 96 yards and two TD’s. Colton Hinnrichs added a third touchdown reception.

Eagles QB Brandon Boyzuick went 8 for 16 with 144 yards and three touchdown passes.

Cole Hedlund was 6 for 6 on PAT’s and the Argyle defense came up with two fumble recoveries

Argyle will take on Graham (14-0) in the state semifinals on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Northwest ISD Stadium.
