Wildcats continue winning ways in playoffs

Things got off to a slow start for the Guyer football team on Friday night, but the Wildcats got on track and proved why they are the defending state champions in a 42-13 victory over Waco.

Guyer led 14-13 at halftime after Jerrod Heard scored on a 7-yard run and DJ Breedlove returned a punt 28 yards for a touchdown.

In the third quarter, Breedlove returned a punt 97 yards for a score and Jonathan Pershall scored on a 15-yard pass from Heard.

Anthony Taylor and Breedlove scored on touchdown runs of 19 and 12 yards respectively in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Breedlove finished the game with 150 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Guyer (10-2) will play the winner of the El Paso Chapin/Amarillo game next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Lubbock.
