Bartonville Mayor Ron Robertson and Mayor Pro Tem Jim Farrell announced their resignations at the conclusion of the monthly regular council meeting on Tuesday night.
Robertson has been the town’s mayor since 2002.
A special meeting of the Bartonville Town Council will be held this Monday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m at town hall to consider the acceptance of resignations and to discuss and consider filling the vacant positions. No other business will be considered at the special meeting.
According to a ruling by the Texas Attorney General, a General Law Type A city council can time the acceptance of two resignations and appointment of replacements in order to avoid the calling of a special election by filling one vacancy before the other vacancy occurs.
